Children across the world are being inspired to take action to tackle climate change and build a sustainable future, whether helping their community to adapt, or lobbying their governments to cut their carbon emissions.
ccc-action is supporting children to tell their stories and share experiences, and to gain further knowledge, skills and motivation to adapt to the challenges ahead. Through global online discussion forums designed by children for children, they will be able to share knowledge, perceptions, and views on climate change with each other and adults.
Child-led adaptation describes the actions taken by children in their community or elsewhere to help reduce the existing and future impacts of climate change. ccc-action is providing a unique space for children and development practitioners to share their experiences of such activities, which could prove vital in reducing poverty, promoting health and well-being and enabling more children to get involved.
ccc-action is developing an international community of children and young people who:
- are supported and committed to promoting sustainable communities and climate change adaptation
- care about the impact of their lifestyle choices on other parts of the world and are able to take individual action
- have the knowledge and skills they need to initiate and lead change in the future
- are ambassadors for positive change in the home and global communities in which they live, learn, play and socialise
ccc-action believes in:
Building a global community of committed children, young people and adults to promote, initiate and continue taking action on climate change, and inspire others to get involved
Linking local to global by starting with the issues that matter most to children and young people in their community so that climate change adaptation and sustainable development becomes relevant to them
Enabling small steps to achieve big changes by enabling children to make small but significant changes in the way they live their lives to bring about bigger changes that will create a world that can respond and adapt to climate change
Learning from child-led development programmes in order to rapidly promote and develop appropriate and empowering child-led adaptation initiatives based on the extensive experience held in related sectors, such as child-rights, disaster risk reduction, agriculture and the environment.
The ccc-action website including a forum by children for children is currently under construction.
Please email action@childreninachangingclimate.org if you wish to be notified of the site’s launch.
ccc-action believes in:
To get people to tackle climate change you MUST make it relevant. While people believe it is a problem for tomorrow they will be less inclined to do anything about it. By showing people what they can get out of being energy efficient and how it will affect them they will want to take a much more active role in making a differenceYoung member of England DCSF Youth Board![]()
