Children in a changing climate

Make the Link, Be the Change

October, 2008

- A new Climate Change Development Education Project from Plan UK in partnership with National Museums Liverpool.

Make the Link, Be the Change aims to engage over 3000 students in 12 countries over the next academic year leading up to the climate change negotiations in Copenhagen next December.

MtL,BtC have developed 2 schemes of work targeting 11-14 year olds (one mapped to the UK curriculum and one scheme for international participants). These 14 lessons provide the platform for learning and communication about the 4 key strands of climate change: impacts, adaptation, mitigation and advocacy. There will also be a dedicated multi-lingual website for the project, accessible from the Plan School Linking website by November 2008.

The countries involved are UK, Kenya, Sierra Leone, Malawi, Senegal, Haiti, Ecuador, Brazil, El Salvador, Philippines, Bangladesh and Indonesia

The schemes of work (available in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese) include an outline of the Make the Change, Be the Link Project, Frequently Asked Questions for teachers, lesson plans, teachers' notes and evaluation forms.

Download the UK scheme of work - all supplementary worksheets and issue files are accessible via hyperlinks to the Plan Ed resource centre.
